I don’t understand why progressives think it is alright to shut down the government for any reason given that that lots of people are reliant on government programs for their basic survival. It should not matter what the reason is that is offered for the shutdown. Democrat’s as a minority party seem to be focused on making all the same mistakes Repubican’s made.
Given that Repubicans do not want the government to succeed and that Democrats say they do want it to succeed, shutting it down makes even less sense coming Democrats than it did for Republicans.
Also Democrats seem to be focused on doing it in support of a policy that seems to have bipartisan support and therefore does not need this exceptional approach. Both parties need to let the legislative process take it’s course before trying to circumvent it. This is a perfect example of where that is appropriate is likely to be successful.
